Penn-Dutch Restoration Services Inc. was founded in 1979 by Jeff Hammers as an outgrowth of his professional training in archaeology and a fascination with antique automobiles and all things mechanical. Some of his first professional restorations included a 1931 Model A Ford, 1931 Chevrolet and a 1917 Bell Touring. His increasing knowledge and experience on and off the show field brought additional projects such as 1908 & 1910 Pullman Automobiles and many Classic Era vehicles. As their reputation for quality and detail oriented craftsmanship spread Penn-Dutch quickly outgrew its original location. In 1990 a modern 8500 sq ft. facility was constructed on three acres of land in a private industrial park.
In 2001 Jeff's son Devon joined the business intent on carrying operations into the second generation. Since attending his first "Hershey" car show at the age of 7 1/2 weeks, Devon has been raised in and around all aspects of the antique car hobby. From slogging through the mud at "Hershey" to polishing brass at National shows, Devon's interest in antique cars and specifically, restoration and authenticity, shines bright. Devon's passion for antique automobiles and quality craftsmanship is evident in the many projects that have been completed or are currently underway at Penn-Dutch.
Over the years we have also added two dogs to our crew. Visiting customers will be happily greeted at the door by our two best friends Farfel and Killian. Don't let the bark fool you, they are completely harmless. Farfel is an 11 year old Chocolate Lab that came to us at the age of eight weeks and has been a full time employee and customer favorite ever since. Killian is a 8 year old American Pit Bull Terrier that came to us 4 1/2 years ago. Killian is a rescue from the local SPCA and is a true lover that likes nothing more than to be curled up on the couch with his cats.
